Our team lead, Dr. Jessica Szczuka, will contribute to an upcoming event on AI regulation, hosted by the Open Universiteit and the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
On Wednesday, September 16, 2026, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners will come together to explore the opportunities, limitations, and risks of emotion recognition systems, and examine how the AI Act addresses the challenges posed by this technology.
Dr. Szczuka will join a panel of speakers including Andrew McStay (Bangor University), Joost Broekens (Leiden University), and Andreas Häuselmann (Open Universiteit), representing the Research Center Trustworthy Data Science and Security at the University of Duisburg-Essen.
